ZACHARY RICHARD | Festival Acadien de Caraquet 2001
The Festival Acadien was organized to promote the development of the Acadien identity and to provide exposure to the regions musicians and performers. In its 40 years, the festival has proven a major success, becoming not only the cultural event of Acadia, but also one of the most important tourist attractions in New Brunswick.
In 2002, Canadians were able to enjoy over 20 hours of television programming produced at the Festival, including a 13 part series En Spectacle au Festival Acadien. That year also saw Radio Canadas first broadcast channel producing a daily show from the festival, and in 2003 a Festival Acadien concert series was added. The Festival also organized a special program as part of the celebrations surrounding the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Acadia.
